Tragedies oft-times bring out the best in people as was certainly the case in Charion County during the Great Flood of 1993. Citizens of towns in our county started and rekindled friendships that had been on hold during their busy lives.
As the rivers were battled along levees and roads in the communities, it was proven many times over that good people live in rural Missouri. Citizens from neighboring towns pitched in to fill and stack sandbags on levees that were protecting valuable farm land and homes.
